Your software development team
A senior development team, without having to build one
Building your own team means recruiting a lead developer, a second engineer, a tester and a designer, then managing them. Zim Digital is that team, already used to working together, for as long as your project needs it.
The team
The people who'll build your software
Our lead engineer runs every project. Specialist developers, testers and design join when the work needs them, so you get a full team's skills without paying for people who aren't needed yet.

Lead engineer & architect
15+ years, founder of Zim Digital
Leads every project. Scopes it with you, designs the architecture, writes code and is your point of contact from the first call to launch.

Senior full stack developer
20+ years, former lead developer at Betfred
Builds alongside the lead engineer on larger projects, so delivery never hinges on one person and the work moves faster.

QA lead & tester
28 years in software testing
Plans and runs testing, from test strategy to user acceptance, so problems are found before your customers find them.

Designer
Bespoke branding and visual identity
Designs logos, brand and visual identity when the project needs a look as well as working code.

Finance & commercial
BSc Accounting & Finance
Handles contracts, invoicing and anything commercial, so the developers stay focused on building your software.
Full backgrounds and experience are on the about page.
Why it works
Why a small, senior team beats a big agency
Senior people only
Our engineers have 15 to 28 years of experience each. Nobody is learning on your project at your expense.
One point of contact
You deal with the people designing and building your system, not an account manager passing messages to developers you never meet.
Only the people you need
Testing, design and a second engineer join when the project calls for them. You don't pay for a full team sitting idle.
Continuity after launch
The people who built your software are the people who support it. No handover to a separate support desk.
Working with us
We take ownership of the build
When we build your software, we take responsibility for delivering it, rather than handing you people to manage. Most clients start in one of these three ways.
A defined project
You know what you need. We scope it, price it and build it in two-week sprints with a demo at the end of each.
A first version, then grow
Start with a focused MVP from around £8,000, put it in front of real users, then plan the next releases on evidence rather than guesswork.
Ongoing development
After launch, the same team carries on with fixes and new features on a monthly support arrangement from £150 a month.

How big is the Zim Digital team?
Small and senior on purpose. Our lead engineer runs every project, with a senior full stack developer, a QA lead and a designer joining when the work calls for them, and a finance director handling the commercial side. That's the right size for the projects we take on: bespoke systems for SMEs and public sector bodies, not 50-person programmes.
Will the same people work on my project throughout?
Yes. The people on this page are the people who work on client projects. We don't subcontract your build to an offshore team or swap people in and out between sprints.
Can you work alongside our in-house developers?
Yes. Through our technical consultancy service, senior engineers work with your team on a day rate of £500 to £800, on architecture, code reviews, delivery practices or hands-on work on the hardest parts, as we do for the startup Land X. When we're building a whole system, we prefer to own the delivery as a project, so there's one team accountable for the result.
How do you keep us updated?
A short written update every week and a working demo every two weeks, so you always know what's done, what's next and whether anything is at risk. You also have open access to the code repository and a staging environment you can click around at any time.
How much does an outsourced development team cost?
Because the team scales to the project, you pay for the work rather than for headcount. A focused MVP starts from around £8,000, a multi-tenant SaaS platform is typically £30,000 to £80,000, and larger builds go beyond that. The pricing page has the full breakdown.
Where is the team based?
Zim Digital is based in Shevington, near Wigan. We work remote-first with in-person meetings where they help, which is easy across Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside and Cheshire. Clients elsewhere in the UK work with us over video calls and sprint demos.
