Who are the software developers at Zim Digital?
Zim Digital is a founder-led software development consultancy based in Shevington, Wigan. Founder Joseph Aspey is an application architect with a First Class Honours BSc in Computer Science and 15+ years of professional software engineering experience across .NET, React, Microsoft Azure, and agentic AI. Finance Director Christy Aspey (BSc Accounting & Finance) is majority shareholder and runs the commercial side of the business. We scale delivery capacity through a trusted network of vetted engineers when projects need it.
Where are you based and do you work remotely?
We are based in Shevington, Wigan (WN6 postcode). From there it's 10 minutes to Wigan town centre, 30 minutes to Manchester, 45 minutes to Liverpool, 25 minutes to Preston, and 15 minutes to Bolton. We work remote-first with onsite days for discovery, architecture, and milestone demos when the engagement benefits from it. For clients elsewhere in the UK, we deliver fully remotely with regular video check-ins.
What technology do you build with?
Our core stack is .NET 9 (C#) for backends, React 18 with TypeScript for frontends, Microsoft Azure for hosting with UK data residency, and Flutter for cross-platform mobile when needed. For AI work we use Azure AI Foundry, Semantic Kernel, and Azure OpenAI. We deliberately use well-supported, boring technology so your code stays maintainable for years.
What kind of projects do you take on?
From a single landing page to multi-year multi-tenant SaaS builds. We work with SMEs, scale-ups, and public sector organisations across bespoke software development, technical consultancy, AI agents and automation, cloud infrastructure, API development, mobile, and website development. A small brochure website or landing page can start from around £500, a focused MVP from around £8,000, and larger multi-phase SaaS or public sector builds scale up from there. No project is too small. We'd rather build you a simple site done well than turn you away.
Are you certified for public sector tenders?
Yes. We are Cyber Essentials certified (verifiable on the Blockmark registry), ICO registered (ZC111089), fully insured, WCAG 2.2 AA accessible, and host on Microsoft Azure UK South for data residency.
