Frequently Asked

Common questions

The questions we hear most often before the first call. If yours isn't here, just ask.

How much does a typical project cost?

It depends on scope. A focused MVP for a small business typically starts from £8,000. A multi-tenant SaaS platform or substantial public sector system can range from £30,000 to £150,000+. Technical consultancy and agile coaching engagements can be paid per day or per sprint. We're transparent about pricing on the first call - you'll never get a vague proposal that takes three weeks to come back.

How long does a project take?

A focused MVP can be delivered in 6-12 weeks. A multi-phase SaaS platform usually runs 3-9 months across multiple releases. Technical consultancy can start within a week and run as long as it's needed. We work in 2-week sprints with weekly status updates so you always know exactly where things are.

Where do we start?

Email us, fill in the contact form, or book a discovery call. The first conversation is always free and no-obligation. We'll spend 30-45 minutes understanding what you're trying to achieve, what constraints you're working with, and whether Zim Digital is genuinely the right fit. If we're not, we'll say so.

What technology do you use?

Our core stack is .NET 9 (C#) for backends, React 18 with TypeScript for frontends, Microsoft Azure for hosting (with UK data residency), and Flutter for cross-platform mobile when needed. For AI work we use Azure AI Foundry, Semantic Kernel, and Azure OpenAI. We deliberately use boring, well-supported technology so your code stays maintainable for years.

What happens after launch?

Most clients continue working with us after launch through a flexible support arrangement - either pay-as-you-go for occasional fixes and small enhancements, or a monthly retainer for predictable bug fixing, monitoring, and feature work. You always own your code, your infrastructure, and your data, so you can move on whenever you want.

Can you work with our existing team?

Yes. We regularly embed into existing engineering teams as senior contributors, contribute code, review pull requests, mentor junior developers, and run sprint ceremonies. We use your tools, your processes, and your repositories.

Do you work with public sector clients?

Yes. We're Cyber Essentials certified, ICO registered, fully insured, and we host everything in UK Azure data centres. We have direct experience with the Procurement Act 2023 process, public sector accessibility requirements (WCAG 2.2 AA), and the documentation needs of formal tender submissions. See our policies page for compliance summaries.

Where are you based, and do you work remotely?

We're based in Wigan, Greater Manchester. We work remote-first with occasional onsite days as the project needs. We're well-positioned to serve Manchester (30 minutes), Liverpool (45 minutes), Preston (25 minutes), Bolton (15 minutes), and the wider Northwest UK in person. For clients elsewhere in the UK, we deliver fully remotely with regular video calls and demos.
